Are Homes Selling Right Now?
Lots of people are asking me what is happening with real estate because of the pandemic. Well, in short, homes are still selling. Do we have even less inventory than normal? Yes. However, buyers that really need somewhere to live, are still out there looking and hoping to find a home. And sellers that need to move for a new job, or for financial reasons, need to sell.
From this chart below, you can see that numbers are down compared to this time last year, but there is still a decent amount of activity. We are doing this as virtually as we can but when we do need to go out and tour a home, extreme precautions are being taken.
Obviously, there are no open houses right now. We are also discouraging buyers from bringing children into occupied homes. So, that means, that one parent stays in the car with the kids while the other takes a look, and then they switch places.
I think we are going to see the spring market shift a few months and then we are going to see a new flurry of activity. Some of my sellers are waiting until mid or late May to put their home on the market. So, if you are a buyer, it just requires a little more patience and perseverance.
